How do you play Celts in castle age vs knight civs? Against archers it’s easy to get out some mangonels and boom behind but I’m not sure what army I should do vs mass knights. And no I don’t want to make pikemen I tried it many times and it only delays my imp timing and gives up map control

I find that in many of my games my opponent beats me up to Castle Age because of market use. Is buying up pretty much a necessity if there’s prolonged feudal combat ?

Anyone play on Xbox one or Xbox series s? I’m wondering about what population limit they can handle. The Xbox one gets laggy end game usually at 200 and the S I haven’t tried increasing yet. I’m assuming it should handle more than the regular one right? I looked on Reddit and Google and couldn’t find any info.

Is there any reason to “not” Paladin/Cavalry rush?

Me and a friend started 2v2’s and every single match we’ve been in, me and him have both just did a Paladin rush with some trebs/siege eq and would typically mop the floor, even against other units that supposedly counter cavalry like elephants/halberdiers, etc.

Is aoe2 de playable on a cheap (~$300) laptop? Or would you say it’s just not worth it, unless you’re at least on a budget/entry level gaming laptop?

I’m relatively new to AOE2 but I feel like I’m getting a lot of pieces figured out, but I can’t quite complete the puzzle. As I’ve found out, I’ve smugly gravitated towards the Huns and have played around 20 games with them against AI.
I can easily and confidently whoop the AI on moderate within 55-1:05 mins, but hard has been giving me quite a few issues and I cannot confidently beat them without turtling.
My question is, where do I go to become a better player from here? I’ve been looking at guides and build orders, but it seems they’re just pieces of a puzzle that I can’t solve without help

As someone who hasn’t really watched the top level aoe2 scene, could someone give me some sort of an intro to a few of the top players and their styles/strengths/running jokes? I see all sorts of memes about Daut for instance, which I don’t get at all.

I’m trying to find the best game settings to do a “defense” mode where I have one or two allies and 3 or 4 ai enemies and the only way to win is wipe me out. But don’t want my allies to attack or try and conquer. Want to strictly do defense. I saw the wonder mode but that has a time limit I’m looking for something I can take my time on and really challenge myself. I’ve tried a few different things and wasn’t what I was looking for. Thanks in advance this game is so fun I’m glad I randomly found it

is there any news on the bugs that appeared with the last update (xbox crossplay) , like the placing farms around 1st TC bug that u dont see the outline , or the lobbys not working ?
