Malay Cheese in Hiding

I’m encountering more aggressive strategies than usual on the closed maps and the Scouts Go Brrr map.

I was playing against Malay on Hideout and I was scouting very thoroughly in anticipation of either forward stables or a huge boom.

I couldn’t find any stables, so I had to focus on booming.

Suddenly, I was hit with a large force of over 20 Berserks.

I hastily built four barracks and upgraded pikes and armor, but I didn’t have enough stone for a castle.

I thought I had just missed the stables, but it turned out they were hidden in the center of the enemy’s base.

    They had 29 villagers.

My score didn’t tell me much since their military was boosting it.

What else can I do in this situation besides having more stone?

Should I just run my economy away instead of trying to repair the Town Centers and defend with pikes?

Sounds like your opponent took a lesson from “The legend of The Liar”, who did exactly what you described and was featured on T90’s YouTube channel:

I tried this strat 3-4 times.

    Always lost.

It’s not that hard to defend with pikes and monks.

It’s a very all in strat.

If you don’t kill your opponent fast, you are done.

Wall your sides with palisades and you will see it coming from a mile away as BE are very slow.

I dont think that’s the right strat.

Go for at least 3 (the more the better) monasteries and get bodkin for your tcs (elephants from malay have low armor).

Always easily worked for me in the past.

Pikes takes too much time and isn’t really affordable at that stage.

You can transition into them later if needed.

Sorry, but you are mistaking the civs.

Malays can’t do this strat, only Magyard can do them

No strat is “cheesing” to be honest.

    It works if it works.

What you missed in probably a stone wall if you expected the strategy, and making your own military units in advance instead of reacting.

That being said, 20+ elephants and 29 villagers is incredible.

It was really all-in for them because they probably stopped villager production entirely after the FC.

I had this done to me before on hideout, and in preparation I made about 10 monks.

    Was GG after that.

    It’s not a cheesy strat, it’s a terrible strat.

    Insta loss.

why do you need a castle?

Id rather try to housewall as much as possible and build stone walls behind to keep the elephants out while you get pikes or monks.

If you are too far away from your walls to rewall behind before they break through, wall to your tc and close around it.

You could even just use palisade walls and look with how many elephants you are dealing with, before deciding if a stone wall is needed.
