Is Watching This Game More Enjoyable Than Playing It?

Years ago, I was introduced to the game through T90 on Twitch or YouTube. As a fan, I find it incredibly entertaining, especially when it’s played competitively. However, whenever I try to play the game myself, I’m quickly reminded why I don’t. Perhaps it’s because I’m old or just not good, or maybe it’s both. I’m curious to know if anyone else feels the same way.
Yep I’d much rather watch a T90 cast then play. I tried playing multiple times but the time commitment to reward at this point in my life is not worth it
Yeah sure… i guess if your trying to put yourself to sleep
I work 12-16 hours in a really stressing job (2 restaurant) and I used to play some 1vs1 before heading bed that was my daily routine
I joined a BF discord in which there is high level players (slam, accm, vales, barles etc) and mid elo players around 1.5 to 2k and there are times in which there is spot for some plebs at 1.2k and I join but the high amount of thought process and decision making at higher lobbies is really exhausting. I always colapse at imperial age engagement since there is a lot of things going on at the same time add in into that Im physically and mentally tired from work 11
That is why I usually just enter and watch them play while I lay on bed
Yes. This game really requires full focus if you’re playing serious
I play the campaigns but don’t play competitively online. Love watching it though
I like to play the campaigns (once) and against friends at lan parties. Otherwise I watch t90 haha.
no im addicted af. want to get nr.1 on console. 🥵
Yes, but if mangonels didn’t exist it’d be more fun to play than watch.
Lately i pretty much stopped watching streams and actually started enjoying spectating games myself, actively trying to think about the players civ matchup, map layouts and think about their possible strategies as a result, rather than having a caster do those things for me. The only content i really watch nowadays are coaching videos of players at 1000+ elo, as well as discussion and top/tierlist videos. For whatever reason i completely stopped caring about watching tournaments though, except things like HC and RBW, and im not exactly sure why.
It depends. I like playing it. Mostly vs the AI. Playing 1v1 stresses me out. But if I’m too tired I prefer watching a stream instead.
Not so much for me. I’ve been working my way through the ai and am now up to expert. When I can do a new strat or master something fundamental, it is fucking great. When I realised I had the skill to split raid with knights or when I first beat the hard ai, and then the hardest, it was euphoria – that victory screen was so much release.
I love watching the game, but I definitely enjoy playing just as much.
I think RTS games are just like that. huge skill ceiling so frustrating to play, but fun to watch due to the nature of the game allowing you to see everything that’s going on as opposed to being limited to a single player’s perspective like an FPS or something
For myself what it comes down to is time. Currently have 4 month old twins and I can watch T90 videos in 20 minute chunks when I get some time. I would like to get into ranked some day when I have time.
I have friends who never played age of empire and they look at competitive match on YouTube
