Do you think it is necessary to play the single-player mode before entering the multiplayer mode on XBOX?

I returned to DE after several years on HD with almost 0 understanding from game, because i only played it in my childhood and for fun ( and almost often with cheat codes,11) then i started to learn basics and civs strategies and then i decided to play MP only after finishing all campaigns.

After 2 years on DE now im around 13xx ( i have lowest elo of 800)

There’s no harm in playing campaigns to get a general feel for the game, what techs and units do, etc, however strategies you learn playing the campaigns won’t translate over to multiplayer.

As others have suggested, complete the Art of War tutorial.

After that I would recommend just jumping on the ranked ladder.

You will likely take a beating but you’ll learn from your losses.

After around 10-20 games you should be getting matched with players around your level and start to have competitive games.

    Tbh, no.

    It’s actually the opposite.

Campaigns are super fun, don’t get me wrong, but MP is a completely different game.

It might even be detrimental given how certain things are super powerful in campaigns but almost useless in MP (looking at you murder holes)

    No, not really.

Campaigns are helpful tho to get familiar with a certain civilization.

    Not at all

I personally started with the moderate ai until I could beat it comfortably, then extreme ai until I could beat it comfortably and then MP

In the early days of DE,this placed me 10xx

They are two very different experiences.

I don’t particularly enjoy the campaigns but love MP, the skills aren’t really transferable outside of basic controls.

Like everyone else said Art of War is a good primer for MP + a few skirmishes against the AI.

If you like the campaigns then go for it but don’t play them to help prepare for multiplayer.

No, especially if you want to play 1v1.

Keep losing until you start to face new guys like yourself.

Last year I start playing from mp and fell to 600 elo
