Big_T_333GuestGotta be better than most games. Lots of mindless stuff you could play. It’s all relative. 🤷♂️

dfectedROGuestno. I am an over-thinker, the game makes me overthink even more.

auronddraigGuestOh yeah. Every time I’m not playing, my brain hurts.

sevhooGuestI think it really trains your brain to think clear while you’re under pressure. When you’re under attack you have no other choice than adapt to the situation and find a solution.

SostratusGuestI think it would be hard to measure this in a way that’s independent of selection effects. AoE2 players are probably better than average at certain cognitive tasks, but more because they’re the kind of people who would be interested in such a game than the game helping them somehow.
I would bet it would be helpful for older people who need to keep their brain active, but it would just be one of many ways to do that.

Nobody414GuestI love aoe2 and have watched and played for many years, but I have trouble sleeping after a night of gaming

dj0wnsGuestI’ve found the skills learned in learning aoe2 translate quite well to other things I’ve tried to learn, namely musical instruments. I think that my understanding of 1. Learning how you learn, 2. How to stay motivated when things are tough, 3. Self discipline, 4. The value of muscle memory and how to train it, 5. Multitasking, 6. How to efficiently prioritize sub skills when learning a new skill, have all been greatly strengthened by practicing aoe2.

FowlFortressGuestAbsolutely. You can put it on your resume as: extensive capacity planning and prioritization experience.
You’re taking your current workforce and planning how best to optimize their time and skills to be the most efficient with your resources. As you take on projects, you can increase your capacity and take on more projects. As soon as obstacles arise (the enemy) and threaten your current projects, you show your resilience, prioritization, and adaptation skills, sometimes diverting projects to work on more important projects.
These are all necessary skills for any manager.

420yumyumGuestAnno 1602 was used in a study to treat dsylexia and it worked. I think all real time strategy games can be used to exercise your brain. Just don’t overdo it.
