When the Forgotten Expansion came out in 2013, it added an Interesting rarely thought-of technology called Hunting Dogs.
The tech cost 40 food, 25 wood, took 15 seconds to research at the mill, and was available in Dark Age.
It made Hunters and Fishermen work 25% faster.
For a cheap price, this was a very strong economic boost.
It didn’t last long, within a few patches it was removed from the game due to professional players not liking the tech.
Well, here’s an idea: What if it was brought back as a Dark age Unique tech?
Suppose a future civilization like Jurchens was given this long-lost tech again as a civ bonus.
Its cost, effect, and research time could obviously be adjusted to properly balance the civilization, but I think it would be cool and unique for a civilization to have an incentive to quickly rush down a mill before a lumber camp.
It could be especially useful on Hybrid maps with lots of shore fish.
Alternatively, “Faster-Working Fishermen” could be replaced with “Faster-Working Foragers” so that Hunting Dogs isn’t just a weaker version of the Mongol Hunt Bonus on land maps and to avoid balance issues on Shore Fish maps.
