Sounds like you are solo queuing 2v2s since you get 2 map bans.
The issue with a third map ban is there are only 9 maps in the map pool. If every player has 3 bans, you could potentially have every map banned, and the game would fall through. You could maybe design a process around this, but it’s the way the game has worked for a long time and I’m sure it’d be a pain in the ass to change.
Here’s an idea: since you get two bans, just ban the last two maps you played. Then you’ll never play any one map more than 33% of the time.
may I ask what you are even aiming for? If you dont like Arabia & Runestones, and then also dont like Arena. What are you even hoping to get? Always Blackforest? You could try visit the RageForest Discord server, and find people for nice 4v4’s there 🙂 Thats how you could always play Blackforest. And if its Nomad (which is unlikely because you seem to dislike African Clearing too, but just in case), you could try out Paradox303’s Discord server.
Don’t give MS stupid ideas
If you give one more ban to anyone, there is a chance to every map to get banned. The current number always makes at least one map possible.
Pay me 10$ a month and I’ll team with you so you can choose whichever maps you want to ban

Asking to pay for this is something rude to others. Dont ask to aoe to become like all those cash Shop mobile games…
You can actually do this, pay 1-3 players to queue up in your party and you get 3 bans everytime
Interesting idea. One has to consider that in the future, if the game will continue getting support, some sort of ongoing monetisation model around AOE2 should be expected (how many more expansions can they realistically keep releasing?) Assuming they do introduce something, we would hope that some ongoing subscription wouldn’t be anything directly pay-to-win, but rather giving some kind of quality of life options (and maybe cosmetics).
For reference, a game like Dota 2 is monetised with literally no pay-to-win features, but it does give subscribers an Avoid list of players. Perhaps something like an Avoid list (for maps) could be a nice way to do this.
Add one more ban but also add one more map.

Or just get better at those maps? I didn’t like Arabia and after playing 30 games on it I favorite it.
