Interesting idea. One has to consider that in the future, if the game will continue getting support, some sort of ongoing monetisation model around AOE2 should be expected (how many more expansions can they realistically keep releasing?) Assuming they do introduce something, we would hope that some ongoing subscription wouldn’t be anything directly pay-to-win, but rather giving some kind of quality of life options (and maybe cosmetics).
For reference, a game like Dota 2 is monetised with literally no pay-to-win features, but it does give subscribers an Avoid list of players. Perhaps something like an Avoid list (for maps) could be a nice way to do this.
