I’m a relatively new player who began playing last year, took a break, and am now coming back.
I have around 100 hours under my belt and my current elo is around 750.
I’m interested in maining Goths, since I appreciate the ability to mass produce an army quickly.
I’m just not sure how to play them effectively.
Are there any tips for improving my skills with Goths and what kind of strategy should I be using?
My elo may be a bit inflated since I haven’t been playing ranked much, but I’ve recently started winning some matches.
Could this change anything?
Aztecs can do the mass lots of army fast thing but with a good eco.
My tips for 700 elo would be make lots of production buildings.
And don’t forget to keep making farms.
Dewit.
Follow your heart.
Unless your heart is wrong.
Goths are nowhere near the best civ on almost any map on the current meta, and you should know that in case it informs your decision.
But there could be at least two good reasons to go Goths. 1) You like them.
Hypothetically, playing this game is about having fun.
Enough said. 2) You will get really good at using a non-optimal civ for standard strats (e.g., crossbow and knight play in castle age, for which Goths have no notable advantages), and you will also get really good at using non-optimal strats (e.g., infantry as a mainline unit, which feels underwhelming in most situations).
Those are great skills!
And you may even discover along the way some unique ways to use Goths that people haven’t discovered yet
TLDR: Know that it’s not a “good” civ.
But if you still wanna play it, go for it and enjoy every minute of it.
Honest comment: If you want to become good, don’t main goth.
If you want to play for fun, do whatever you like.
I think that playing Goth might lead to bad habbits for new players.
Also MAA opening is not that simple to execute.

A great way to see players like Hera or TheViper (or any high Elo player) maneuver the Goths (and a great way to see their build orders too).
