I participated in a 4v4 game on Xbox One, but when my two teammates were defeated, I decided to quit.
The opposing team’s best player had accumulated an impressive amount of resources, such as 36,000 units of wood and 30,000 units of food, while I had only collected 4,000 units of wood and 2,000 units of food.
I was wondering how he was able to gather so many resources faster than me.
They had substantially more villagers, probably.
One of the most impactful ways you can get better at this game is to make sure your Town Centers are always busy producing more villagers.
If you’re wanting to keep improving, look up some of the build order guides out there for scout rushes, archer rushes, fast castle, etc.
and learn the best way to allocate villagers in the early game.
Watch the rec and try to learn from it.
How long was the game?
Did you produce any villagers?
How can you only get 2k food after 35 mins

He wasn’t spending anything.
Focus on making sure your TC is always working.
If it is not creating a Vil, it should be researching a tech, like wheelbarrow, or aging up.
Adding 1-3 TCs in castle age can really help you get to the ~100-120 vil goal you want to reach.
Always be growing your economy.
Late games are won by out producing the enemy, and you need a strong eco for that.
I didn’t realise you could watch recordings.
It was only 35 min game
Don‘t worry, I’m sure you will learn it in no time!
It depends from your strategy, but in many games you produce villagers until you have 130 or 140.
To achieve such a high number, you usually add a couple of town centers.
Make sure that your town centers are always running and try to keep your villagers working all the time.
And don‘t forget your eco upgrades in the mining camp, the lumber camp, the mill and town center (wheelbarrow and handcart).
