It’s really impressive, but there are some issues right now.
Livestock slaughtering is extremely inefficient.
Also, sometimes villagers ignore the ratios you set for no reason (eg.
I clicked villagers away from gathering food, they idled for a few seconds, then all went on wood – making it seven on wood and zero on food, even though the ratio was set to 60% food 40% wood.
Villagers also waste resources by not dropping them off before changing jobs.
The control scheme is also good, but some rough edges stop it from being great (at the moment).
On the plus side, it’s really deep and customisable.
I changed the cursor to a floating reticle within a circle, which feels more natural to me.
I also changed the minimap reticle to automatically pan the camera view quickly – however there is janky behaviour where if you’re already panning the camera normally, and try to speed it up by holding down the minimap button, the camera stops panning entirely until you let go of the left stick and then tilt it again.
I would also like the trigger menus to be more responsive – it’s hard to change between military control groups quickly in the heat of battle, it feels “mushy”.
One final niggle – I love the ability to set down a new building without finding a villager first, however the build option is sometimes greyed out and I have no idea why.
I can do it right next to a large group of villagers and it’s still greyed out.
I have plenty of resources to build with.
Here’s hoping that the developers make some fixes and perfect their systems, because otherwise they did great work.
