Onager vs ballista elephants trade favorably.

Monks vs battle elephants are very good too.

Make sure you have fodder of hussar or halb with both counter units

Pick Saracens if you want a lategame monster. 120 memelukes annihilate any amount of elefuns.

People are clowning you, but im gonna repost an answer I just gave to a similar question here.

I’m gonna assume you’re playing on closed maps, because on open maps Khmer are pretty weak.

fyi, a closed map is a map which by design does not encourage early aggression, whether through walls, water, forest, or other obstacles.

Black Forest, most water maps, and especially Arena are all examples of closed maps.

Open maps are maps like arabia, which make it difficult to wall your base and play an economy-only early game.

On closed maps, you want to fast castle and boom.

Google it if you don’t understand what that means.

Because of the Khmer bonus which allows them to age up without needing required buildings, you are not going to get to castle age faster than them with any civ.

In order for Khmer to make a giant ballista elephant death-ball (which I assume you’re dying to), they need to boom really hard because BE require a lot of resources, upgrades, and time to mass.

I would suggest you Fast Castle and go aggressive all-in with one Town Center instead of booming.

Use whatever the power unit of your civ is – knights with franks, archers with mayans, UU with turks or spanish, Cav archer with mongols/tatars/cumans, etc.

Alternatively, you can build multiple TCs, boom, and get aggressive in late castle age/early imperial age, before his BE are fully upgraded.

But this is cutting it kind of close and gives him time to start massing BE if you do not manage to finish him off quickly.

If for some reason you’ve reached a post-imperial age situation and he has already massed a bunch of Fully-upgraded ballista elephants, you should use siege onagers, bombard cannons, and/or halberdiers set to the staggered formation and stuffed into siege rams.

This depends on your civ and what options you have.

If your civ has bad infantry then use hussars to throw into the meatgrinder while your Siege onagers and/or bombard cannons do the real damage.

    120 elephants?

What kind of map are you playing on?

If it’s ranked 1v1s, especially on an open map, you’ve done something very, very wrong if they are able to get an army like that.
