How Many Games Do I Need to Play to Reach My Ranked Level?

I recently picked up a new game, even though I had never played an Age of Empires game before and only had a few hours of experience with real-time strategy games.
But I’m absolutely hooked and have already put in 12 hours.
I’m enjoying playing against real people in multiplayer, and I’m working my way through the campaigns in my spare time.
My first ranked match was a breeze, as my opponent was just sending out scouts and failing miserably at the game.
My second match, however, was against a 2K player on an unfamiliar map and I didn’t stand a chance.
I’m currently at the 1000 rating level, and I’m not sure how many more games it’ll take to get matches with people at my level.
I’m a bit hesitant to start another ranked match.
10 games should be enough.
If you feel you are completly outmatched, just resign : you won’t get any penalty for that
12 hours is rookie numbers.
And if you haven’t played any rts, that means it’ll take some time & matches to find your level.
By the sound of it, you’ll hit your accurate elo by 8th or 10th game.
The game picks some extreme elo players initially to help you reach it faster.
Once you are at the elo, you should have competitive games.

That’s one of the big problems of this game, but you have to take courage and go through more matches before it gets really really fun.
