    > My goal is 1,2k for now and I hope to get there by the end of the year.

    How realistic is that?

It is absolutely realistic if u have enough time to spend with the game (learning, practicing).

You *might* even reach 1200 a lot faster than that.

Again, it depends… the more time you can spend playing and improving the faster you will reach your goal.

1050 is not bad my man its all perspective and yours is all that matters.

    cuz at 1050…

to a pro and the pretentious dickheads here, you’re trash, but to your friends…

    you’re an absolute god

    1.

Question for me is, do you play for fun, only for getting better or both?
    2.

Question would be how serious you take the whole thing.

In the end 1050 is about average.

What you should compare yourself to, is to players with 350 games.

For those i don’t really know the rating distribution.

I am higher ELO but I been playing since second grade.

In valorant, I play religiously and I am still shit below gold or platinum (higher ELO).

What I am trying to say is, don’t think of it as bad.

Some people literally grew up playing this.

You and I are exactly the same.

Never played any RTS competitively, only played aoe2 as a kid, during early 2000s.

    And I was 1.1k at 350 played.

Depending on your mindset, ability and available time you will either hard stagnate at 1.1k for 300 more games, or climb to 1400.

Learning on your own can be a rough path, but it doesn’t matter if youre enjoying the grind.

If youre very worried about plateuing or improving too slowly, you could get some coaching.

    It will save you time.

Pretty good honestly. 350 games isn’t a whole lot and 1053 is approaching 1200 which is when you start to understand the game at a good level.

Really good progress I must say.

I think thats dont matter and hard to tell where you will end up.

Because each of us have an unique learning curve.

If you want to grind, best advice I can give you is dont try to imitate pros or higher elo play styles.

Just pick one civ, practice one build and perform that build.

    Dont think about counter units.

Just try to perfect the build.

Ceceiro build order is perfect for this.

Try to achieve grade A consistently.

As an example I practiced scout kts build and reached 1.3k quickly.

As I said dont worry about the other players build.

If he make pikes just make more kts.

Kind of depends on what your goals are.

If you want to be really good and be 1700+ one day, then this is a humble start, but if you have fun and play as a means of relaxing, then we would need to see your relaxation metrics rather than elo

Here you can see elo distribution: [https://ratings.aoe2.se/](https://ratings.aoe2.se/)
With 1053 you are officially better than 58.3% of the people now 😉
obviously its a bit more complicated, because accounts =/= people, but roughly speaking thats the meaning of your elo.

Yes, 1k2 at the end of year is possible!

No, 1500’s are not trash, but no matter your elo, you will always feel like a noob.

You will always be potato compared to Pros, even 1700’s, and so on.

A 1700 plays against a 2k player and gets schooled like you would get schooled by a 1500.

No matter where you are, you will always have people better than you =) Thats usually why even 1500’s or 1700’s call themselves noobs or trash even, but obviously they are top10% or top3% even.

    It depends.

On one hand you are brave and vulnerable enough to compete head to head against other humans also trying their best(something that not a lot of people honestly do in any aspect of life).

On the other hand you may feel like you’ve spent literal days at something that thousands of people are objectively better at than you.

If you can hold those two thoughts simultaneously and still be happy than the only thing that matters is your intention.

Seems like your intention is to improve.

I wrote about how hard this game is a few weeks ago after crossing 1200 [Reddit Link](https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/z2fq2c/finally_hit_1200_analysis_in_comments/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).

FWIW it took me around 400 games over a year an a half with lots of practice games in between to go 1K to 1.2K.

Improving is part of the fun for me, but I recognize that improvement is not always linear and is somewhat a grind.

Luckily there are a lot of kind people out there who want to help those who want to improve, you just have to find them.

I have friends that have 5 thousand games and are 1300, also have friends that have less than 1000 and are 1800 elo,it really depends, but considering where you started, you have decent progress.

If you can keep it up, you will become a decent player eventually.

    Your goal is definitely realistic.
