My friend and I have a disagreement that we want to settle through a round of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. Neither of us are particularly skilled at the game and we have never seriously played it online. I have about three days to learn the basics of online play. I have already spent over 50 hours playing, mostly against AI on the easier difficulty. Is there any good YouTube tutorial series or something similar that can help me become familiar with online play?
Start by playing the Art of War tutorials. Then watch some of the Hera vids on Road to 2k or something like that. Then grind against increasingly difficult AIs.
On PC, download the interactive build order guide mod, chose the scout or archer build. Keep practicing until you don’t get an F. Deploy that strategy against your friend.
In just 3 days it’s your best chance
There is the path to light that is to learn a build order as well as you can in that time.
There is the path to darkness that is to learn Persian Douche.
You choose.
I’d complete the in game tutorials if you haven’t done them (art of war, William Wallace if you forgot the controls).
Then get the build order guide mod and try to learn either the scout or archer build order and later practice it against increasing difficulties of AI.
No matter who wins ask for a rematch.
Get a build order, practice it, win

Play a couple of single player campaigns, then jump on line and keep playing. You learn more and more everytime you play.
