Bohemians, i like big guns
Tatars because they have the most cavalry units 11
I like Mongols, Tatars & Gurjaras due to their light horsemen style.
Lots of cavalry and movement is how I like to play.
Whats the civ with their special unit in barracks?
Goths I think.
I love them.
I play infantry and cavalry civs because i suck ass with archers.
But otherwise, i mix it up.
TEUTONNSSSSSS: I like cheap farms and Tanky bois, somehow they’re still viable at 1600 elo and I absolutely love it 11
Lithuanians have been a lot of fun for me.
My favorite Civ is Randoms, they have everything I want.
Seriously though with 42 civs I usually can’t decide and instead gamble.
I do prefer civs that have either camels, good horse archers or Bohemians because of gunpowder focus.
Hindustanis because they have a lot of options and the most generic eco bonus that works for any bo

I play with the lotr soundtrack mod and it feels like Im mustering the rohirrim

Not a very technical reason, but when I was a kid watching my dad play he always played Mongols so I prefer to play Mongols as well.
Definitely some nostalgia there.
Like a couple others have said though, I like cavalry archers, and the extra speed on siege rams is helpful.
I like the Japanese and more recently the Dravidians.
For reasoning, early eco bonuses feel nice, I like good infantry (for the occasions they’re actually viable) and good archers.
M@a into archers is super effective at my elo and often gets the enemy to resign before castle age (where the eco bonuses for these civs begin to fall off)
Super intrigued to see what people have to say about this, I’m on xbox and haven’t played this game regularly in decade, there’s so many new (to me) civs and I’ve fallen in love with the game all over again.
Goths are my sweet spot but nothing is more fun than random map/random civ IMO
Civs with camel as a serious option tend to be very, very fun.
Not necessarily because the camel itself, but for me the civ bonuses and unit balance built around them tend to make me think more creatively.
I like saracens, because the worse I play, the better their market bonus becomes
