Similar to many others, the recent update has caused my Age of Empires II game to malfunction and not launch.
The error message that appears reads ‘vcruntime140_1.dll missing’.
To fix this issue, I suggest reinstalling or repairing the Visual C++ download, as the update seems to be referencing a file that is only available in the versions from 2016-2022, not the 2017 version that comes with the game.

I don’t get that error at all, the game simply won’t load since I tried to play today
Going via desktop shortcut, nothing happens, and then going via Steam it says I’m playing for 5 seconds or so, but nothing loads (It’s as if I haven’t selected play)
Wondering if this is the same problem or a different one?
I don’t see any error messages

I am having this exact problem and I reinstalled by right clicking and then clicking reinstall and it’s still not working.
