As a newcomer to AoE, playing on Xbox adds further difficulty to my experience. Nevertheless, I have managed to keep pace with most players in reaching feudal, castle, and imperial ages. However, my weakness is attacking and handling troop movements. I tend to get too absorbed in managing my economy that I neglect keeping an eye on my armies on the field. I would appreciate any advice on basic attack strategies or suggestions on which civilizations have a simple attack plan that I can follow. Additionally, I am still learning which units counter other units in battles. Thank you in advance.
Not sure about extra difficulty, since they also simplified things to make gameplay easier. I think most new players suffer the same issue – I was particularly obsessed with getting every research possible asap when I started. Rather than me trying to give you detailed advice, I suggest watching people far better – Survivalist does great coaching videos for mid-level players (incredible how many glaring mistakes we still make every game), Hera has 2 different ‘road to 2k’ series, and ofc, T90’s Low Elo Legends series is fantastic – all on YouTube.
