Welcome to another week of Arena deliberations! Arena is quite different from Arabia, which can cause many players to be hesitant. But once you become familiar with the Arena fundamentals, the walls enable a much wider range of strategies and troop selections. Do you go for the relics? Do you expand quickly with unique units? Do you opt for the Vinchester Trush? Or take the all-in gamble with monks?

With the abundant number of civilizations, there are hundreds of matchups, each with their own nuances. This week, we will be discussing Hindustanis, Britons, and Cumans. To get the discussion going, here are a few questions:

If your opponent is able to choose from the other two civilizations, which one would you choose?

What strategy will you open with? Will you go for scouts for map control and relics, or boom, trush, smush, castle drop, fast imp, or TC douche?

How will these three civilizations fare in a monk war?

If the game progresses to the IMP stage, which civilization has the best unit composition and deathball?

Which civilization has the best 1TC YOLO play?

How do these civilizations do against better Arena opening strategies such as the Turks Jannie/Mango?

What are your general thoughts on these civilizations and how they play on Arena?

If oppo picks Britons I’d go Cumans. Even with no Bracer, they get Siege Ram and Ring Archer Armor, + Paladin for extra Pierce. But Ghilam would also perform well against them

If oppo picks Cumans I’d go Hindustanis, so that my boom equals his and my Camel spam forces him into Infantry, so the dance starts with Halbs, Ghilam, Champions and 9range HC

If oppo picks Hindustanis I’d go Britons for Range, but his Ghilam would need to be dealt with. Champions or Cavaliers would be the best, but Hindustanis have also answers to that

Hindustanis are hard to beat, they also have the best Monks (although Cumans have the best answer to them)

8 range Xbows are very good against Janies. Massed Ghilam will take lots of damage, but will also decimate Jani numbers

All three civs have crazy good eco’s. Love to hear who the top Arena players think has the better eco bonus are the better civ.

Feel like Cuman’s best bet though is prolonging feudal and going the Vinch Trush into 2nd TC. Late game I think they would struggle against the other two.

Britons range means they can deal with Turks Jannie push fairly well and they can deal with Monks better than most.

None of the civs have great monks so I’d be avoiding monk wars.

I’d pick Hindustanis but Britons are probably just as good.

I think a Vinch Trush with Britons would be a good option v Hindustanis. It’s a good strat in general and if you get lucky and take them off stone you’re halfway to winning. Even delaying a castle while you build up a decent number of archers.
