Fix Malfunction in Delaware?

I’m attempting to restore a castle in the game that still has approximately 75% of its HP left (and I have plenty of stone), however my villagers will not repair it. It doesn’t matter if I use the buttons or the hotkeys – it won’t work. Has anyone else experienced this issue and know what might be causing the problem or how to solve it? Appreciate any advice!
Just a wild guess- are you playing Slavs, have the tech that replaces part of castle cost with wood, and are short on wood?
Do you have a rec and the timestamp when the issue happened?
