When I want to win, I usually choose the Teutons.
I find their defensive play style works well with my own playing style, and their unique unit is a game changer when used correctly.
Additionally, their cheaper farms make the game feel more manageable.
My personal favorite civilization is the Britons.
I find their archers and cavalry to be particularly useful, and their cheaper castles are a great bonus.
Plus, I find their unique technology – Yeomen – to be incredibly helpful in securing victory.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14112kur4_iGuestTotally the Teuton thing u described.
Also a childhood fav – loved towers back then didn’t know murder holes existed
Considered their towers superiorNowadays?
Probably Hungarians
I just love cavalry hordes and their trash UU balances out most of my weaknesses:
Archers n siege
And i don’t like that especially in 1v1 u can run out of gold so I love that trash UU for long and stressful matchesFebruary 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14103SavingsWafer195GuestTurks.
Because archers just die hard to +1p LC, yet still most of my opponents (~1400) with archer-civs seem to be unaware
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14104SheAllRiledUpGuestChinese, the mid game tech switching power is just incredible and you have a stellar economy behind it.
Scouts into archers and sail into castle age for chu ko nu, light cav / camel, or siege options and break the game open.
I just love tech switching and being able to do it slightly easier than my opponents can is a big draw for me.

Sub 15 Castle with consistent 2 stable knight production, then going from some vills to just 3 stable fully upgraded Knights, at my Elo, is basically cheese it’s so powerful, even against Spearman line.
Plus I just love Khmer.
It’s a damned fun civ.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14106Flimsy-Preparation85GuestGoths, it’s all about learning how to either hold while picking which infantry you to use as a counter, or knowing how to put enough pressure while shredding buildings.

– heart gotta have heartFebruary 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14108GMFPs_sweat_towelGuestI really like Hussar CA civs like tatars, huns, magyars, mongols and turks.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14109vajrasenaGuestOh the attack bonuses.
I am terrible with archer play.
Cant micro at all.
So its usually scouts into knights.
And I just think the attack bonuses help so much if both of us going for same composition.
Imagine bloodline, first armour and both attack upgrades immediately ad you start pumping knights.
Such a cool non eco advantage.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14110El-Mattador123GuestVietnamese and Mayans.
I’m better with archer civs, and Rattan Archers are awesome, and Mayan cheaper arbs are great, plus Mayans get the best eagles.
If I wanna just blast the AI, it’s Mongols so that I can steam roll their towns with 40+ high speed siege rams.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14111nikkythegreatGuestGreat (probably the best) scout rush with -15% cost and free +1 attack.
Fully upgrade Knight line and Archer line.
One of the best Post-imp unit comp with Trash Huszar and Recurve HCA.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14101UmdeuterGuestI’m kinda absurdly good with Franks, I think I recently had a 16 in 16 winning streak with them or so (not picking them, just randoming into it) and have a 70% win rate over 85 games.
A key is that it allows for a _safe_ Scout rush.
You don’t need to fear maa at all bc the extra hp and easy 19 pop up.
That also allows to get pretty easily into Knights against Archer plays and with Knights and a solid boom I’m in my comfort zone.
I’m probably like 1700 with Archers and 1900 with Knights.
With most Knight civs it’s more difficult/risky to actually get into the Knight play. (Berbers are my next best civ with 60%.)
With Gurjaras my win-rate is even above 70% (11 out of 15), because they are op and bc they combine a few things that do really fit my playstyle: great feudal economy – easier to get to Castle fast and avoid Xbow or Siege powerspikes -, good counter units (hence why I also shine with Incas (actually my best meso civ with 57% wr)), mobility and great raiding units (I usually opt to kill eco quick and build my eco advantage and then just kill with mass, rather than deathballing or so).
I’m also great AGAINST Gurjaras bc I understand them very well.
I have 67% wr against them which is actually my very highest.
Yesterday I had a tournament game and my opponent (slightly higher ranked) picked them for Land Madness and I counter picked Japanese and killed them with Infantry and Skirms.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14113Scoo_ByGuestI have highest WR with Franks, but I don’t pick them.
I play random so except Franks, my highest WR on arabia is Japanese.
Great civ!
But if I wanna win badly, I pick Hindustanis.
There is no need to explain why they’re the best.
For cool points, Cumans.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14114epicsheephairGuestAztecs.
Because eco bonus + faster producing military means I can overwhelm in feudal/early castle before I have to start strategising/macroing properly.
Best civ varies by map, but I think Hindustanis are objectively good on any map because solid eco and late game options.
February 19, 2023 at 5:52 pm #14115MtG-CrashGuestIm not a strategist, I win games by out-execute and out-macro my opponent, and I love Huns because they even enhance this behavior.
They’re full speed, no breaks, go brrr!
