Error with Crossplay between Steam and Xbox.

I am attempting to play games on my Xbox with friends who are using both PC Xbox and Steam.
I have noticed that I can join my friends who are on MS PC and vice versa.
Similarly, my MS PC friends can join my Steam friends (and vice versa).
However, when my Steam friends and I try to join a lobby together, the game disables cross-input and won’t allow us to join.
Even though cross-input is enabled, I still can’t join with my Steam friends.
We were able to do this previously, but tonight it just wouldn’t work.
Any ideas on how to bypass this error?
It’s strange that MS PC and Steam connections work, but there seems to be a problem when I’m trying to join with my friends on Steam.
Check to make sure cross play is enabled in the settings menu.
This is different than the cross input setting.
