Defeating an Army Composed of All Types of Forces

I constantly come across the phrase “stick to a two-type army otherwise you’ll expend too many resources on building up your forces”.
However, every time I face an adversary with an army composed of a variety of units, I am easily defeated.
For example, when I was playing as Ethiopians against Cumans, my opponent began creating an army made up of Kipchaks, Knights, Crossbowmen, Pikemen, and Elite Skirmishers.
Initially, I assumed that my enemy would waste a lot of gold on such an expansive army, but moments later I was overwhelmed by it since I had no idea how to counter it.
My ELO rating is 800.
Is there a reliable strategy for dealing with an all-type army?
Might be a long shot, but would love to cast the game and share with you if you’re interested.
Even if not posting I would love the chance to practice.
Pick whatever your best unit is.
If you’re Ethiopian, that’s Arbalest Onager.
If you’re Teutons, that’s Paladin.
The other thing you need to consider is that Cumans generally have better eco than you.
You were probably like 20-30 vils behind.
Thanks for the tips guys, this is a helpful thread.
Siege is the great equalizer in those scenarios.
Load up on scorpions, onagers, and cannons depending on the civ.
A few shots or well protected scorpions can devastate even the best armies if you have a decent trash wall in front.
I am talking about if you both have well balanced armies here.
The one with more siege in the scenario usually wins by taking out units/eco and wearing them down or pinning them down.
Another nice trick is to mass tons of hussars and force an attack elsewhere and just let them lose in the enemy base.
Will stop their eco cold while you keep pushing
Mangudai
If you are losing this way it’s because you are going horribly wrong somewhere else
dont focus on countering army, focus on play and mass a strong unit then add a secondary trash or siege.

ANyways xbow,Es and Pikes upgrades are freaking expensive, if he managed to get all that and still have more army than you then your flaw was probably on other aspect of the game.
Arbs and Mangos
Skirmishers cover Kipchak, Xbow, Skirms of your opponent’s army.
For Knights, use Pikes
Ah.
The wise general defeats an army of all….
With an army of nothing…
What time is thishappening at?
If it’s very late in the game, which I guess it is, a good option is “don’t let it get there”.
Upgrading all those units takes a ton of resources but also time.
In that time you should be able to focus on your 2 units and harass him enough that he can’t afford to upgrade everything, and if he still goes for diversity, they will be too weak, and your elite units should deal with them even if they are partially countered.
Don’t give him a lot of free to time to upgrade and and build everything.
If you had an equal number of fully upgraded knights you would likely win.
Very doubtful that composition is completely upgraded, and even if it was knights are overall the best value unit in the game and should be able to win this. 80 knights should win against 15-20 of each of the units.
