So we decided to try a game with the standard AI to see how it would go.
If you don’t find an AI difficulty level that suits you properly, you could experiment with the Handicap optional setting. It increases things such as villager efficiency, unit HP (maybe just vils), bonus damage dealt, decreased bonus damage taken, building HP, unit train times, and a few more I’ve probably forgotten by the percentage you give it. So if you change your handicap level to 110%, everything effected by the handicap setting will be 10% better. That could help with creating a fair matchup. If you wanted to improve as well though, I recommend the Art of War tutorial that comes with the game.
The AI resigns automatically when it assesses that I cannot win. To prevent it you have ti write “104” in chat, as that taunt says “Don’t resign!”, and then when you’ve clapped it you write “105” which re-enables it’s ability to resign
Now I know people will of course say “you just need to be better, get good.” Which is fair, but isn’t there a middle ground for casual players? standard might be a good middle ground of tough / enjoyable gameplay maybe.
I would recommend the Resonance bot AI for DE as they auto-adjust a little to your speed of play. I’ve rarely ever had a poor game with them, in any combo
Have you considered going online? It will take you the first 10(?) games to find your elo, but after that you should win some and loose some. The feeling after winning online is better than vs an ai
