I am attempting to defeat the hardest AI in Arena by launching a castle drop early on.

I am playing with the Turks, which have the Janissary and Mangudai, but I am having difficulty amassing enough units before the AI overwhelms me with large numbers.

Are the Turks not well-suited for this type of strategy?

    Do you have any advice?

I usually strive to have 110-120 villagers.

The ais in rtses are gigachad in booming lategame scenarios almost no exception.

The problem is as a human you have finite number of apm and you cant do everything at once.

The computer however can play with 10k apm perfectly managing every unit 1by1.

So naturally rushing the ai is allways easier forcing him into situations where he cant win with raw apm instead would require more strategical thinking.

It’s because it’s an AI, they play flawlessly unless disrupted. (At least I assume so)

Though, the answer does kind of seem to be “make more army”

But regardless, beating the hardest AI in a boom war is really difficult.

If you want to exploit the ai go for towers or pick poles and go for defensive towers into knights.

If you want to win fair and square then aside from executing a build well, strategizing well or having good micro, try raiding in castle age, the ai isn’t great at defending vills so you can quickly get a vill lead.

Turks are good in the late game, you just need more production buildings in imperial age(10 or 12, not 4 or 5) and to mass units earlier (cav archers, light cav and janis are available in castle age, make some for imp).

Ending the game early is preferable for Turks so don’t be too passive and inevitably run out of gold.

If you need more time to create your army then you can turtle with the longest range bombard cannons in the game and with castles or bombard towers to kill anything trying to touch your bombard cannons.

Outbooming the ai is actually surprisingly difficult.

If you don’t bother the ai their eco is usually one of their strong points.

They’ll likely be more efficient than you are with their villiages and allocation, because booming is fairly formulaic if you’re not being challenged and computers are good with that sort of stuff.

Maybe you could focus on your eco efficiency, drop your idle vil time, look if you’re stockpiling uneccesary resources.

Or alternatively you could play on a more open map, go for a bit of early aggression with your scouts and knock their booming off, in which case your play doesn’t need to be perfect in order to outcompete them.

    Play arena to practice boom.

Aim for a 26+2 fc, mill or push deer, then go 3tc boom.

Farm every 60 wood till 35.
