This civilization has an impressive economy, with their low-cost knights allowing them to start mining stone early without falling behind.

Furthermore, their pikes and spears are no match for either 100 knights or the obuch, making them a weak choice.

Who designed such a basic civilization with only three economic bonuses?

If there is a lightning storm it will hit poles first

It’s a bit hard to defend farms as Poles, and they excel during late castle and early imperial age.

I’d say, focus on hitting their eco early and never stop raiding

Oh Nooooooooooooooo Poles are the most balanced civ!

    What are you talking about??

    No no no!

I won’t hear any of this blasphemy!

Do you even know the facts?!

The devs did a great job of balancing them!

    POLES DON’T GET HEATED SHOT!

On open map, rushing is the way to go.

Folwark gives poles insane farm, but some distance away from tc.

I am 1.1k ELO, once cought poles player before he finish walling and he has no answer to 4-6 scout, i reach castle age while he still stuck in feudal.

I hit him again with 20 cav archer and siege and the game was gg at that point (I was playing as turks)

On close map you can either castle drop and siege push if you have strong UU like jan, orgun gun, conq, or orgun gun.

If not, you can go with a combination of cav archer and hussar or pike.

I wont recomend going with arbs or gunpowder.

Mameluke, in theory, counter all poles option, so if you a mass of 30-40 elite mamluke (which cost 2500 to 3400 gold btw) with hussar and trebs, its generally a gg.

In arena poles will either rush you with siege obuch push or fight late game with winged hussar or cavalier supported with either arbs or obuch so you gotta watch out for those.

In open map poles will either go for wall and fc then knkght spam or trush.

it’s super hard but I think you have to attack them asap, trying to deny the folwark(s) farming.

The civ is obviously busted at defending too but look at it like this: it’s easier to kill them when they have 200 resources more than you, than it is when they have 1000-2000-3000-…

resources more than you, and they need lots of space, walls and safe berries to actually use their op eco bonus.

That’s another reason why on arena they go tower rush and shit, they absolutely don’t want you to attack them before they’ve milked the folwarks for a while.

I suggest you either go for tower rush (seems nonsensical since they’re one of the best trush civs…

but still better than letting them farm in peace till they have 1000 food more than you, if they got forward berries I think it’s a good strat), mangonels, castle drop UU, monk rush, lots of knights before they have the UT, very fast maa->archers, shit like this regardless of the map (well maybe if the map is super closed such as BF, you might allow them to boom and just make the doom deathball from your civ, in the lategame that’s probably enough if you have a good civ).

I don’t think you want them to just play farmville with heavy plow because the eco bonus is broken op (needs to be nerfed tbh), that’s their stronger trait and you want to play against that.

Early game aggression is good because their farms are generally more exposed.

In late game they’re weakest to arbs and cav archer because their cavalry is very weak to ranged attacks.

I beat the Poles (the best player on our Discord server) with light cav spam as Magyars, dude got so salty he quit the Discord.

Turns out cheap cav is good but cheaper cav is better.

So they suck in imp cause of lack of upgrades.

You need to hammer them in early castle, wounding them enough to delay Schlachta.

Then you need to hunker down and survive schlachta.

Then once your imp, your units are stronger.

The Obuch is their only power unit in imp and it’s slow.

    Naive posts about Poles again.

Instead of asking how to counter them, you can just ask developers to fix them.

    They’re obviously OP.

Open maps, raid their eco with light cav or ca until they die

Closed maps, militia+spear/camel and archer/hand canon.

Have a decent eco macro yourself.

Yes, Poles get some things “easier” but they’re not unstoppable.

Here’s what I’d do by civ:

Aztec: monk and spear with skirms if they go archers

Bengalis: monks and elephants with Paiks

    Berbers: camel archer

    Bohemians: halb and houfnice

    Britons: resign

    Bulgarians: halb and konnik

Burgundians: knight and Flemish militia (either as a final resort because they pushed into your base or as a final blow when you’ve broken their walls)

    Burmese: battle elephant and monks

Byzantines: cataphract, camel, and something ranged

    Celts: scorpion and halb

    Chinese: camel and chu

    Cumans: hussar and ca

    Dravidians: Xbow halb

    Ethiopians: shotel warrior raids

Franks: light cav + knight and hand canon

Goths: halb spam and hand canon

    Gurjaras: camel and chakram

    Hindustanis: camel and hand canon

    Huns: light cav and ca

    Incas: kamayuk and sling

    Italians: genbow and xbow

    Japanese: samurai

    Khmer: mass ballista

    Koreans: resign

    Lithuanians: halb and leitis

    Magyars: mag hussar and CA

    Malay: ths and ele

    Malians: gbeto and farimba camel

Mayans: plumed archer raids and eagles

    Mongols: mangudai

Persians: trashbow and camel or ele

    Poles: halb and arb

    Portuguese: organ knight

    Saracens: camel and ???

    Sicilians: knight

    Slavs: halb and boyar

    Spanish: conq

    Tatars: ca and light cav

    Teutons: TK and hand canon

    Turks: hussar janissary

    Vietnamese: archer and ele

Vikings: halb and archer (maybe add a few berserkers)

    Hope this helps!
