Allocate 15 minutes towards managing eco in the game, and then dedicate the following 15 minutes to defending your villagers from enemy attacks. Unfortunately, this often results in a futile struggle where the opponents repeatedly flee without being defeated. Even building cavalry units doesn’t seem to help much. The game’s combat mechanics only allow for slow engagement which results in receiving a hit only once every five seconds. The only way to win seems to be to adopt the same unenjoyable playing style as your rivals. This makes the game far from enjoyable compared to similar games, like aoe1 and aoe3.
On the contrary my good chap, you’re just tilted. We’ve all been there. If you’re playing ranked, you will lose at least 5-10 straight games before your rating starts to stabilize. Yes, there is an established meta among the online player base that can be annoying to new players. Play some campaigns if that’s not your speed? The best thing about this game is that it’s like chess. Yeah you can generally know what to expect but every round plays differently.

I’ve been playing this game since it came out. My ELO is 1050-1200, I don’t follow any build order, I just play the game for fun, different nations, different strategies and it’s great. Find your style of play and enjoy. GG 🙂
sounds like youre just playing vs people who are too strong. it takes a while to get settled on a rating that fits your skill 🙂
