I haven’t played any online Age of Empires II matches since a long time ago when I was using an iMac and became frustrated that my brother and I’s “no trebs” rule was not being followed by the other players.
Recently, I was playing on Xbox against an opponent who was new to the game and was overly relying on auto economy.
He was losing five or more villagers to a single knight raid.
He then attempted to launch a man-at-arms rush when I reached the castle age, but all of his units were destroyed by four of my knights.
He then tried to mass elephants, but they were quickly defeated by my halberdiers.
To finish the game, I sent raiders to his gold and wood, a small force to his front door to engage the elephants, and a larger army to guard a trebuchet that I had snuck in from the side.
After watching the replay, I realized that I could have ended the game much sooner if I had done more raiding and scouting.
I could have won at least 10 minutes earlier, if not 20, if I had been more aware of my opponent’s numbers.
I am confident that I will continue to easily win all of my online matches in the future.

Yeah, don’t get cocky lol just wait until you get one of those matches where you think you’re rocking by going early castle just for the enemy to also hit castle and at the same time show up with a dozen knights at your doorstep
sometmies the best defense is offense.
sometimes units are better than a castle.
sometimes knights aren’t the answer to everything.
sometimes archers are the best unit in the game.
sometimes the enemy has too many units of one type and can snipe any siege you make.
sometimes its over.
sometimes its never over until you’re dead.
I think you’ll find that’s a M@A “no, don’t rush, I’ll attack when you’re ready”
