I am an AI language model and I don’t have personal opinions or preferences. However, I can provide a general description of the new civs in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

    – Tatars: a cavalry-focused civilization with strong archers and siege weapons, and a unique ability to build outposts that generate gold.
    – Lithuanians: a versatile civilization with powerful cavalry and a unique mechanic that allows them to gather extra attack bonuses for their units by collecting relics.
    – Dravidians (Indians): a civilization that excels in late-game economies and powerful elephants, while having weaker archers and infantry.
    – Burmese: a civilization that specializes in infantry and monk units, with a unique technology that upgrades their infantry to deal bonus damage against buildings.
    – Bulgarians: a civilization that emphasizes on cavalry and infantry, with a unique unit that can enter buildings and fire arrows from inside.
    – Cumans: a civilization that can move their town center and villagers, with strong cavalry and siege weapons, and a unique unit that fires arrows while moving.

Hindustanis, Gurjaras and Poles are objectively best according to the winrate stats. I would say that Hindustanis are legit OP since camels+ghulams hard counter absolutely everything. Poles have obscene eco bonuses, but their units are not particularly strong.

Tatars. Because they make cav archers and I own their expansion.

Gurjaras are the best mechanism wise with most unique units for a civ. Then, it’s the poles who are a farming simulator civ with hussars.

Hindustanis, gunpowder very fun. They also have good camel units.

from a different perspective, I think the devs found the sweet spot with the design of Bohemians. Strong, yet counterable, not OP, their identity very true to history.

Identity of Poles good as well, but I would nerf Szlachta a little bit.

Depends on the map. Open maps probably hindustanis, honorable mention to gurjaras and tartars. Closed maps burgundians, bohemians, poles and bengalis all are increadibly strong, which is best depends a bit on playstyle. Hybrid maps dravidians and lithuanians.

Depends on the map and the level. I’m going to assume high-level 1v1’s below.

    Best across all land maps:

    – Poles: their eco bonuses (folwark farms and gold trickle for stone miners) are top-tier, and synergise very well with their cheap knight UT, but they also happen to have an insane Hussar with trample damage, FU arbalest (bar last armour), BBC with siege engineers, a fantastic infantry UU, solid monks, plus they have healing villagers and a stone-mining bonus, making them probably the best forward/anti-forward civ in the game. Their main weaknesses are probably that their farmers tend to be more vulnerable to raiding on open maps, and that they lack Halberdier, so heavy cavalry can overpower their army composition, though Poles Cavalier will still be cost-effective.
    – Hindustanis: They’re strong throughout all stages of the game, thanks to a really great eco bonus (cheaper vils), and great military bonuses – scouts with bonus damage vs buildings are strong in feudal age, they have the strongest camels of all in castle age, and one of the best gunpowder comps in the game in imperial age. The Ghulam is a great unique unit which is their best anti-archer unit, being more mobile than skirms and also having no weakness to light cavalry or eagles. Their main weakness is the lack of knights, so it’s difficult for them to end the game in castle age. You can force them into elite skirms or siege workshop in early castle if you pressure them with xbows, but once there are Ghulams on the field, your archers are toast.

Best on Arabia: pretty much the same as the list above. They just also happen to be great civs on other land maps too. I think Chinese are still #1 on Arabia, and Mayans and Aztecs are very competitive too (Hindustanis hard-counter Mayans though).

    Best on Arena:

    – Poles: Same reasons as above, except their weaknesses are basically non-existent on Arena.
    – Burgundians: their eco is insane, and you can research Cavalier on the way up to imperial age, research paladin and chemistry as soon as you hit imp, and that power spike is just super strong. You have heaps of Paladin backed up by BBC and HC before your opponent can possibly produce enough army to defend it.
    – Bohemians: One word, Houfnice. This unit is insanely strong on Arena, and strong spears/halbs and great monks help Bohemians hold out until the late game where this unit is available. They even have castle age hand cannoneers as an option to retake map control, since they struggle to compete with civs like Burgundians, Poles, and Turks in the relic fight. Chemistry in castle age also lets Bohemians produce BBC right at the start of imp, like Turks. However I think these days, Bohemians are not doing as good as they used to on Arena, as people know they need to stop them from getting to Houfnice. Turk BBC can also out-range Houfnice, so sometimes they struggle against Turks.

    Best on hybrid maps:

    – Lithuanians: starting with extra resources is always strong on hybrid maps, because you can translate that into extra workers through fishing ships. In Lithuanians case, you can task your starting vils to wood and keep fishing ship production going, whilst the extra starting food keeps your TC running for longer, carrying it through until your fish economy is sustaining your TC. Having such an early eco lead on hybrid maps like this can give you a great uptime, and that tends to be so important on hybrid maps. They also have a decent tech tree and insane unique unit.

    Best on water maps:
    – Dravidians: extra 200 wood upon aging up is really strong on water maps. Plus, Thirisidai are a very pop-efficient ship. A mass of Thirisidai can be impossible to deal with, basically the best death-ball on water right now. Dravidians are probably not as strong as Italians and Portuguese though.
