MemberAs an Ethiopian player, you find yourself in a situation where your opponent has many units but cannot do any damage to you, giving you an advantage to advance to the castle age earlier. However, you lack military units and technology, and you need to find a way to exploit your advantage.
One good option is to build knights, as they do not require many technologies and you can build stables before advancing to the castle age. Another option is to use pikemen and mangonels, which do not require any upgrades and can damage the enemy’s walls.
Adding a Town Center (TC) as soon as possible is not necessarily a good strategy, as having an extra TC a minute earlier may not make a significant difference to your economy if your opponent also focuses on their economy. Castle age units can dominate battles even when your opponent is still in the feudal age.
Archers are not a great option, as they require a significant investment in quantity and upgrades before and after the castle age, which could negate the advantage you gain by advancing early.

GuestA few knights to clean up their army is usually what you need but mangos or archers can also work.

GuestAs Ethiopians you primarily want to play xbows. But without any military tech/feudal archers, 6 knights+2 tcs can put you ahead very comfortably. I’d say just focus on getting your tcs up. Opponent can’t deal damage to you without siege, that puts you further ahead.

Guest>Knight is one of the good options, since it does not require many technology to make it usefull, and you can build the stable before reaching castle.
Depends on the map. Some maps you cannot wall because of rocky terrain, then yeah knights and gg you win. But on arabia of course your opponent should be walled, so knights can do nothing. But knights + mangonels! That can do real damage!
>Pickman plus mangonel, it will be a good option as no upgrade require. Can do damage to enemy with wall.
Generally pretty useless because pikemen are really really terrible units. Spears can handle scouts fine, so pikemen are not needed. Villagers can just come and kill your mangonels, awful idea.
>3. Add TC ASAP, i am not sure this a good option, since i think if you have extra TC a minute earlier will be very different to your economic, if your oppenent go to econ as well. While the castle age units can dominate the battle when your oppenent is still in feudal age.
Well… no, this is bad logic. If your civ is stronger late game than the other civ AND you add TCs 1 minute earlier you might have 6 more vills than them. That’s a healthy lead and it means you are always ahead, then you can go to Imp 1 minute earlier too and dominate.
>4. Archers, since arhcer require quantity and upgrade, you need to produce many archer and research tech before and after the castle age. And the advantage of castle age will be vanished. So i think it is not a good option.
Wrong. If you have even 8 xbows + bodkin (which is not very much) then if you go to his woodline you can kill 1 or 2 vills if they don’t see you, or harass their gold. But if their map is very good then the xbows can’t do anything. Archers need to be massed against other units in the same age, but 8 xbows can beat basically any feudal army unless it’s like 8 scouts + bloodlines + armor etc, like really really a lot of feudal units. In that case, it would have been better to just add TCs.
