Why not post this in the image post format? That way people don’t have to click it to see it.

This isn’t the first time this has happened. A lot of suggestions first seen here have been implemented, or very similar. This subreddit tends to reflexively ridicule any ideas

The best way to balance, obviously, is play-test by pros. But it’s not like lower level players can’t be creative or suggest changes that improve the game. We’re a small enough playerbase that there can be polls for popular suggestions from the community; currently it feels like gatekeeping and some arcane ivory tower approach to balance.

Don’t Portuguese, Gurjaras (especially Shrivamsha) and Poles need a nerf? Dravidians and Bengalis need a buff? ‘Nerf Sicilians’ became a meme for a reason.

Worth to point out that devs making a change doesn’t necessarily mean that the change is optimal. For example, recently there were some discussions about how to nerf Poles and someone pointed out that reducing the Farm % auto gathered food, even if stronger than Slavs farming bonus, would make the mechanic more bland and boring so it was worth to nerf them in any other way rather than that. Yet that’s exactly what devs just did.

Its not a bad change, true. Although I like the unique playstyle of new civs and would prefer improvements to older civs over nerfing new ones. Portuguese was a move in the right direction in my book!

No one knows which suggestions are good unless someone sees them, tests them, and discusses them.

Member when it was 50%? Shit was bonkers. Still one of the better eco bonuses imo

Okay here’s my proposal for total balance, right human history has lots of different weapons and styles and army makeups and different bonuses to units you can kinda argue over who’s the best. Okay like strip all of that out, no units save for a goose with a knife.

FE Hire me please this is too easy

Lots of people (everywhere, not just this sub) reflexively hate on anything new when they’ve gotten used to the status quo.

What gets me is the moronic arguments they put up which make no sense at all. People clearly don’t even read what they write before they hit post.

Some people also love to shoot stuff down because it makes them feel clever…

So yeah, every suggestion is always gonna get lots of hate, no matter how good it is.
