Should Opponents Notice Your Pings?

While playing on Xbox, I have observed that I can view the pings of players who are not on my team.
This feels strange and unintended as it gives me an advantage by providing me with information about their strategies.
Speaking from PC experience here:
Pings are visible to all players you currently have selected in the diplomacy menu to chat to without starting you messages with, e.g., *
You mean flares I assume – no you’re not supposed to be able to see enemy flares on team games, that might be a bug
Ive been pinging so much shit lmao still trying to figure a work around for the open communication as well.
Can’t even communicate with my team mate without giving away vital call outs/information.
