Microsoft has introduced voice chat for PC players using the Xbox app, meaning that all users of the app will be able to hear each other regardless of whether they are teammates or opponents. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable this feature, meaning that those who play in groups cannot discuss their strategy without their opponents hearing. Additionally, if someone is being particularly loud or obnoxious, it is not possible to mute them without silencing the entire game. Microsoft should add a way for users to turn off the voice chat feature.
Also, it’s a huge security and privacy flaw, broadcasting the people’s mics without warning. This need to be fixed immediately.
This has got to be one of the most annoying bugs in the game atm. Was playing 1v1 random last night and faced an opponent whose kids were super loud the entire game.. Ughh
I played a TG game yesterday where one guy kept saying “I can hear you breath man” etc etc.
He probably didn’t realise that the Xbox app was on and doing that.
You can turn it off by restricting access to the microphone to the AOE2DE executable in the privacy settings in windows.
Can’t confirm, but I’m pretty sure if you close the xbox app the mic stops but thats the only way to turn it off. Can’t believe their isnt a mute 11

Currently can’t use my Jabra headphones for discord channel when playing as aoe2 is forcing this behaviour

Such an idiot developer team that microsoft have!!! All their updates making worst!
PLEASE! I can’t hear the game over the loud Spanish TV programs.
I literally just resigned cuz the guy wouldn’t unplug his damn microphone. May not have read English I dunno.

As a temporary fix, you can go to Windows Settings > Privacy > Microphone > Disable AOE and restart the game
