I’m hesitant to play multiplayer with strangers when I’m alone or with just one friend because there’s an issue with the number of map bans given in certain modes. When queuing up for 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4, you receive fewer map bans than if you just queued for 2v2. It would be helpful if players could prioritize their map ban preferences so they can have more control over which maps are banned, especially if it’s not a 2v2 game. This feature would also be useful if players on the same team accidentally select the same map to ban. Right now, pre-made teams with full bans have an unfair advantage in this scenario.
The algorithm is: every player or teams gets the maximal number of bans such that no matchup can have all maps banned.
In a 2v2 where you queue solo you can get a max of 2 bans. 4 players with 2 bans = 8 potential maps banned = 1 map is still available. As a team of 2 you can ban 4 for the same reason. I think all the possible cases are consistent with this. Maybe except 1v1 as I don’t think you get 4 bans.
Many possible different systems are possible, but this one minimizes queue times by not having imcompatible opponents.
I think he means:
You only queue 2vs2 (solo) -> 2 bans
You queue 2vs and 3vs3 (solo) -> 1 ban, if you face a 2 person team on 2v2 they had 2×2 bans.
So the suggestion from him is then 2 bans but with priority (like numbers), so if you join the 3v3 only the first ban is taken into accout, if you join the 2v2 both bans are taken into account.
