I just found out that Age of Empires II is now available on Xbox Game Pass, which has made some of my friends who play on consoles really happy. I already have the game and all the add-ons on Steam. Does anybody know if it is possible to play with people on consoles using the Steam version? Additionally, has anyone tried playing it with an Xbox controller? I remember playing Age of Kings on the PlayStation 2 and the controls were surprisingly smooth.

There are way more players who play through steam rather than game pass. I am usually playing against steam players as an Xbox player. You’ll have fun
If I already bought it on steam, do I have to buy it again for xbox?
Whenever I try to join someone that is on Xbox (whenever I have the game on Steam) it tells me to run it through microsoft store, not sure if this is a bug or whatsoever.
