I am attempting to enhance my gaming skills and I am aware that watching my own recordings will be of great benefit.
I purchased the game from the Microsoft store and unfortunately the feature of capturing gameplay does not work with this version.
However, the extra information available when viewing recordings from the original client appears to be very useful.
Are there any other clients I can use to view my recordings that could help me out?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Their isnt much else.
CA is the go to tool.
I even didnt know it was steam only…
You might wanna have a look at https://www.aoe2insights.com/
It shows some stats.
Not that much as CA, but at least it give some insight.
The more time goes by, I feel like whatever thought there was behind creating the ms/xbox store seems crazier and crazier.
I refuse to believe there was actually someone thinking about separating the way Store apps work from any other regular program that runs on Windows as a benefit to anyone.
I’ve had problems ranging from xbox store simply not downloading my games, to having to reinstall windows because I tampered with the very “special” hidden folder where it downloads your games.
I know that for most software you buy, you’re mostly getting a license to use said software, but buying an app from a platform that won’t let me install mods, won’t let me change some values in a .ini file because you can’t reach it makes it feel a lot more like I’m renting that software.
Not only that but you can bet that whatever functionality is missing from the Store version will never be added by the only ones with access to do it.
That’s why I only play games on that platform by activating Game Pass for 1£ once every 2-3 months and then I turn off the recurring billing immediately.
I reserve actually buying something on their platform when they revert back to win32 apps or at least when they stop encapsulating all game files in such an annoying way.
