I recently took a look at aoe2net and went to the last page of the TG section, where I noticed there was one single player with negative elo points.
I’m curious to know how this is possible, and why he’s the only one with that rating.
Even before the elo correlation system was in place, this player had a negative rating.
The one big winner from the elo correction.
Probably one of the devs.
That’s seriously impressive.
Tbh once your ELO drops below 0, you should wrap around to 2800
It is not mathematically inconsistent to have negative elo, since the only thing that matters is the elo difference and not the absolute value.
However, many games cap the elo from below so you cannot go beyond certain level.
For example in [chess.com](https://chess.com) it’s 100.
I somehow thought that aoe capped it at 0, but apparently not!
ELO is a relative measure, not an absolute one.
If you are really bad compared to the average (1000 in this case), your ELO can be negative.
