I was ranked 1750 ELO in the former ELO system for Steam HD edition.

    What is a Bohemian civilization?

Well, I am aware that it is the historical term for the medieval region of what is now the Czech Republic.

Probably youd start off like 800 ish Elo after the first 10 matches.

1750 is probly somewhere around 1200-1250 elo in DE when it released, but meta and players have changed a lot ever since, u will probly drop quite a bit due to not beeing adapted to the new meta, so I’d say ull probly be somewhere around 1000-1100 elo (u start at 1000), but u should quickly be able to raise to 1200 elo if u learn the new stuf

edit: just read that u didn’t play the game for the last 2 years, then ull probly fall even more lol, but don’t get discouraged, itll be fun

I was also about ~1750 on HD, and hadn’t played since around the time Rajas came out until I picked up DE a couple months ago

The old basics are still useful but there’s been enough tweaks that I still feel like I’ve had to re-learn a lot of the meta from scratch.

Civs that nobody cared about are really strong and popular now, the militia line gets used for more than just drushing…

I’ve played a couple dozen games and I’ve been stuck in ~1000 elo purgatory.

Definitely worse than I expected and a little disappointing, but then again it sounds like it was a little longer since I last played than you have so you might fare a bit better

Either way it’s still fun, I’d say still go for it

You will be 1200 in no time.

    I was 1800 hd.

I haven’t played ranked in a while but I was hovering 1300-1350 in DE.

If you remember the basics you won’t drop below 1100 and with a bit of getting used to you’ll probably hit 1250 or higher.

I played HD again from the Lords of the West DLC (broke play on win8) until late 2021 and not having the quality of life features DE has, really improved my play when I got back into DE about a year later.

I can’t say what 1750 pre-DE elo meant, but I’d say you’ll fare well in 1v1s and Team games!

There are a lot of “noobs” who play the game for fun without the desire to get better, so even a little bit of grind will get you far.

Also, I’d really like to hear regular updates on how you’re doing with the new game or your gamer tag to see you improving on aoe2dotnet or aoenexus! (if you wanna share that)

You will love the quality of life features that are added.

I can’t play the HD version anymore.

Shift clicking is such a nice thing to have.

On topic: i was 1700-1750 HD now at 1300 DE.

Note that starting elo is 1000 in DE.

So I would say do as you want.

You can jump straight into multiplayer and probably get some wins and learn on the way.

Or first get familiar with all the fancy new features and civs.

    Your choice

    Not so bad.

You’ll probably be around 1200 elo, but that depends on your playstyle, whether you’re playing casual or want to move up the ladder.

I play totally casual (no bulid order, no favorite civ etc)., and I’m always between 1050-1200 elo.

You will drop to low elo and play with other noobs, just keep playing ranked.

Once you get used to it, it shouldn’t be that hard.

Also – dont worry about the new burgundian civ – they do not have any meme strats associated with them whatsoever.

if you reached 1750 before, you should be at least 1400 in DE after derusting

As someone who started with Forgotten Empires, then played some HD and then transitioned to DE, my best advise would be to take this chance to overthink your hotkey system.

These gaps are great for taking an overhaul, and DE allows some new stuff you didnt have access to back then.

Like, your siege can patrol and attack move now.

Ah, there is attack move now btw.

Or multi queue being a huge game changer, I dont even know when that came in.

Getting used to shift-click *everything*, dont storage farms in your mill anymore (there is auto replenish now!), and all these little conveniances will change how you wanna play the game and what hotkeys you wanna use.

The differenciation between alt-click and ctrl-click helps a ton, too.

The game just became way way more conveniant, which you will get used to.

I think if you went straight into multiplayer you’d end up at ~800 Elo.

If you spent an hour practicing build orders using the build orders mod I bet you’d start at ~1000 Elo level.

I think you’d pick up to about 1100 without additional work as you get back into it, then need to work on specific things to improve from there.

No matter what though, once the system determines what your true Elo should be (you’ll start at 1000 no matter what) you’ll win 50% of the time.

Unless you are a top ~100 or bottom ~500 player (highly unlikely since you were above average on HD) your win rate on multiplayer ranked will stabalize at 50% and you should be playing close, competitive matches.
