Some observations on the Budapest map include the difficulty of playing as the Lithuanians due to early food scarcity and idle TCs, leading to a disadvantage. The map also tests the player’s APM due to its hybrid 2 TC start, contested ponds, and proximity to enemies. The writer has enjoyed playing as the Goths in ranked 1v1 games on this map, but has lost to the Lithuanians due to their superior eco-micro and food bonus, which gave them a 6 vill lead in the dark age. The goths’ instant loom bonus on this map can also be a disadvantage. The writer wants to know other players’ favorite strategies and the strongest civs for 1v1 on Budapest.
> (The goths instant loom bonus on this map is actually a eco penalty against normal civs because all standard civs must idle TC’s and instant loom only increases idle tc time)
11 it’s not a penalty at all. An instant technology cannot be a penalty even if you see the TC idle. It’s like thinking a coworker is working more when in reality they are just spending more time than you on a task because they are inefficient. They may not be idle but you finished your work 25s before them.
My favorite strategy is fast castle into castle and (what I think is) the strongest civ is malay, you will reach imp faster than your opponent, have cheap fish traps+harbors and good options in the form of bombards, halbs, arbs
Hindustani are good, the cheaper vil bonus is more effective.
Once you reach castle age, it’s easier to go Gulhams to counter Archers & also their camels counter knights. Playing like this puts you in the strongest poss going into Imp at which your Eco is really strong to win games.
Spanish are also strong as Budapest essentially give their FC Conqs an Eco buff.
what opening do you use for goths on arabia?
