    Hello everyone, I just bought the game during a Steam sale and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice and suggest some suitable clans to start playing as a beginner.

    The William Wallace campaign is a good tutorial if you’re new to RTS games in general, the Art of War missions are good if you want to play at a semi-competitive level. But there’s no wrong way to play, and you can jump straight into other campaigns or AI skirmishes if multiplayer isn’t your thing.

    You need to learn a Build Order or 2. They will get guide you to Feudal Age or Castle Age in a reasonable time with a reasonable Economy to play a competitive game. Lots of players push back on build orders saying they ruin their creativity but there is nothing creative about getting stomped 10 minutes into ever game because you can’t get to Feudal in time.

    For Open Maps (Arabia) 21 Pop Scouts: [https://buildorderguide.com/#/build/vVpIlSEt4tMLM43yqOeD](https://buildorderguide.com/#/build/vVpIlSEt4tMLM43yqOeD)

    For Closed/Nomad Maps 27+2 Fast Castle:

    As you climb the ladder you’ll find you might need to learn the 20 pop and 25+2 versions of those builds but you need to have strong fundamentals before doing that. These two builds can get you to 1100.

    The best Civs for beginners I think are the most played Civs.

    Open Maps: Franks, Mayans, Berbers, Teutons, Byzantines, Aztecs

    Closed Maps: Turks, Teutons, Byzantines, Portuguese, Poles, Franks, Aztecs

    You’ll notice Aztecs, Teutons, Franks, and Byzantines are good on Arabia and Arena. These are very good starting Civs if you want to play different maps but don’t have the time to deep dive everything.

    If you’re going to play Aztecs on Arena you need to learn to Monk Rush.

    if you want to win ranked games at a low ELO;

    1. Do not let your TC go idol, **always** have villagers qued. Auto-Eco is ok when learning but learn to manually task your vills and use the left trigger(hold shift for PC) to task que.
    2. To win use Cavalry/scout rush, I use ~10+ horses. If you can catch your opponent in fuedal age, kill their ECO(villagers at lumber or mining camps are safer to attack). If they just aged up to castle try to find where they want to build a castle and kill the constructing villagers ASAP.
    3. Most players will resign if you kill the majority of their vills. Avoid losing cavalry to spears or Castle/TC arrows. Just run away and keep pestering their vulnerable vills.

    This tactic is very basic and can be countered with a few spears, but at low ELO I am confident you can win games! Also the youtuber HERA is fantastic at teaching to new players.

    I think Spanish Saracens Franks Britons Portuguese and Magyars are all good to start with, they have no bonuses that will become a handicap such as Huns, and they have fairly open tech trees, Frank and Briton’s are also fairly straightforward.
