I am having trouble playing Age of Empires 2. Whenever I switch away from the game and try to come back, my screen is stuck like the picture and I can’t get it to go back. I need assistance.
Looks like a video card driver issue honestly. Was it updated recently?
I would try to deinstall the game. Then restart your PC and reinstall again. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

Do you have your graphic card driver updated?
That’s a nod to 1999’s AoE2 where you had to enable the 256 colours mode on your computer to be able to play.
The classic uninstall then reinstall is what I recommend also something might be wrong with your graphics card. Good luck
