I have been playing consistently for two weeks now, but I have noticed that 8 out of 10 games, my teammates seem to be playing like they are computer-controlled characters. They don’t have any troops, don’t communicate, and will instantly resign, especially in team matches when their units get destroyed during an attack or siege. It’s frustrating because they either get stuck at a lower age after 30 minutes or don’t have any troops available despite us all being at the Imperial age for a long time. What’s worse is that they don’t seem to care about winning the game. Sometimes, I encounter players who are only interested in building up their economy rather than attacking. It seems like these so-called “new players” are everywhere.

lots of players don’t even know the basics anymore in unranked team games

no blacksmith no boar lure and the worst letting different unit types march together

so I play FFA more, i am, 1400 elo

Play 10x shared civ bonus games in unranked lobbies. There are regulars, so if you like it, you’ll see familiar players in every game. Vanilla ranked games just don’t do it for me anymore.

Ranked online play that relies on teammates is frustrating no matter where you go. Sorry you’re having a bad time. If I tryhard I do it 1v1 or with friends on mic on my team. I find relying on internet randos is just too frustrating for me to enjoy myself, in or out of AOE.

Team game matchmaking is bugged. At least it should somehow take into account rm elo. Was playing a 2vs2 with a friend yesterday (100 and 1100 rm elo). Opponents had 1100 and 1500 rm elo. It is just a waste of time.

I do TG’s with randoms and friends mixed.

Around 1.4k I started noticing that people communicate more, ping, help out.
But there are always players that just do an FC boom into GG.

don’t count on anything or have much expectations if you have no idea who is going to be your teammate(s). Team games with randoms is just that – team games with randoms. There’s no team game license or course required to hop straight into ranked tg

if you genuinely care about the quality of team mate then playing tg’s with randoms doesn’t really make any sense to begin with

Btw, are those 10 games your very first games in ranked tg…? No wonder the players you get matched with are quite inconsistent then since you haven’t even been placed on a rating yet if you’re within your first 10 games

2v2 around and especially below 1000 elo with randos is a roll of the dice, especially if you’re also a new player.

Try picking 4v4, make yourself the pocket, and tell your flank that you’re gonna make Knights and support him. Even that basic level of coordination will go a long way.

use reditt and/or discord to find a decent player around your elo and play together

do 2v2 or 3v3 with him/her and get some wins. Once you get to higher elo, it’ll be better

Just finished another game.. enemy built a wonder and no one is even trying to contest. I ask reasons. Dude who spoke in Spanish told me he is “new” again. Other teammates just say im toxic for asking them to siege ??? what in the fak. I kept telling them there is a countdown yet they still ignore dont type anything in chat until I use the machine to bomb their troops last 60 seconds. Suddenly 2 randoms decided to speak out after all the silence and not sieging with full battle elephant squad. Actually speechless. No one moved their armies once. Multiplayer is such a cancer game. All I hear is “im new””my bad not reading chat” “I am defence only” these kind of reasons.
