Do you know of a helpful YouTube tutorial that teaches how to defend against early aggressive strategies such as tower rush and drush? I find myself losing to them frequently.

The tower rush has existed for over two decades. Absolutely nothing about it is cheese. It’s an incredibly well established opening strategy & if you continue playing the game you will see it from time to time. You can vill fight, go up very early with scouts (Mongol 8 minute feudal for example) you can ignore the first tower & make 1 defensive tower & make archers to deal with any man at arms, etc.

I think best way is to watch recs and check for the timings.

In trush usually there may be 2 on stone.
In drush there will be a barrack before mill or early barrack.

Identify those points, timings and learn to scout them.

Wouldn’t exactly call that cheesy strats as especially drush is pretty meta approach. For tower rush idk if there’s a guide but I remember a survivalist coaching video on hideout for trush defense. For drush defensive maybe just watch high level arabia videos from recent tournaments as I’d say at least 1 out of 3 (probably more) games should feature drush.

It’s quite hard to deal vs tower rush in aoe2 , the only thing you can hope is the oponent elo is close to yours so you can handle it. And it work sometimes ofc.

Prevent to not be canceled a key ressource like gold or stone or at least having a second gold for example you can extract from. If a tower is in range of a gold and you have no tower in range its basiquely game over.

Towers in Aoe2 are extremely strong vs every feodal age unit.Villager can destroy then with they’re bonus , but be carefull they die extremly fast vs tower fire.

Usually you need to limit tower influence , if you make equal damage or a bit less to your oponent you should be okay cos he invest many ressources in that early attack. It’s not impossible to cancel a tower rush in feodal but usually theses tower can stay up until castle age rams or even later.

Before De tower rush was extremely brutal now its weakened by the fact tower have less hps in my opinions its still brutal ; you can still see equal pro players dying vs a tower rush. So its a powerfull strat depending on yourr skill set vs your opponent. And luck ofc 🙂

I can see the problems with trush as a new player, but drush? Not even Maa, drush? You could even kill them with villagers if you are desperate…

Also, “defending early aggro”, it depends on what strat you opponent is actually using. Defending a trush, drush, Maa, douche etc. is different…

Drush can be killed with villagers (2-3 militia) fairly easily. It helps if you have your scout.

Defending a tower rush – when you see the first tower:

Send 2-4 vils to stone asap. You want to prevent your opponent from ‘walking’ their towers further into your base. Make a defensive tower out of range of theirs, to deny their next one. Don’t put up your own tower under their tower fire. If they tower a wood line or gold, abandon that spot and tower the other to protect it.

Counter attack: once you have stabilized a bit the easiest counter play is some scouts. Train a few and take them right to your opponents base to disrupt their eco, or at the very least cause idle time.

Once I stabilize I like to put some vils on gold and get enough resources for a blacksmith and fletching. If you can be the first to fletching it can help you out quite a bit if they are going all-in on the towers.

Look this could be bad information because i do not actually know i just go off my own experience but for me the best defence i have had against a Drush is early scouting, Knowing they are putting down a really early barracks makes me assume it will be a Drush so i hang around the barracks after scouting a bit of their base.

If their scout comes after me to push me away from the barracks it is almost always a drush in my experience.

Tower rush tho i do not understand how to defend against it other than a counter tower. Beyond that i usually just ignore them the best i can and even sell my stone to go FC> a few knights.

Again i have not played that many games but this is how i have had success against a drushes/tower rushes.

trush and drush are not cheesy

for trush, vill fighting can work a lot of the times, see a tower, rush it with vills, pull back the weak ones, most of the times ull have more vills than he has, just make sure u have loom

drush, quick wall, and try attacking with higher number of villagers than he has militia, close to your town center, so u can run away if vills get too low HP, and bring ur scout home, the scount will help wonders
