Do players at a rating of around 1000 ELO or higher practice these tactics?

To be honest, I don’t have any interest in doing either.

Is it possible to improve further or is a rating of mid 900s good enough if I’m not trying to learn either?

You will probably find yourself doing a build order if you play a bunch, even if you don’t sit down and explicitly learn one.

Kind of what others have said..you probably already do some sort of loose build, there’s just certain things you fall into .

You probably won’t improve above that range though if you don’t tighten up those aspects of the game, is all.

Once you start learning some hot keys though, you’ll wonder how you ever played without them

I ended up learning hotkeys for convenience more than skill to be honest lol.

I’m not that much higher elo than u r.

There are people who can just play how they want and achieve success without using a formal BO, but that is rare.

Control groups, that is imperative.

Hotkeys are a plus but not always necessary but use if you can.

Build orders you don’t necessarily need once you have a good feeling of how many ressources you need for what.

You’re executing BOs without intentionally doing so, so to speak.

Without hotkeys you won’t get far though.
