    Hey there,

I’m a returning player after being away from the game for about 20 years. I’m having trouble finding the most reliable and current resources for the game. There are many guides and websites available but I’m not sure which ones are the most relevant and up-to-date. I’m looking for websites that provide strategies, information about different civilizations and their strengths and weaknesses, forums for learning and discussion, downloading recorded games to see strategies, and statistics on the popularity of different civilizations. There seem to be many different websites offering all these resources, making it difficult for me to figure out which ones to rely on. I’m looking for a few websites that can give me a solid foundation for improving my gameplay. I recently played 10 ranked games and my ELO is currently at 800, so I have a ways to go to improve.

Strategies and civ stats, strengths/weaknesses don’t matter at this elo. As long as you keep producing army and villagers and don’t float resources, you’ll be ahead. It sounds simple but it’s pretty difficult to do until you build up a lot of muscle memory through practice.

Do the William Wallace and Art of War tutorials, try to meet the timings for the medals, check out the how to improve YouTube playlist from Survivalist.

For discussion forums there is [AoEZone](https://www.aoezone.net/), mostly focused on the multiplayer scene.
And there’s [AoKHeaven](https://aok.heavengames.com/), focused on modding.
Most streamers or players also have their own Discord servers.

If you want to download recs for tournaments or high-level players, use [aoe2recs.com](https://aoe2recs.com/).
