I have experienced the TC drop before and I have read that the best way to counter it is to remain calm and let the TC die before rebuilding it. However, my opponent was constantly scouting my villagers and rebuilding the TC wherever I tried to rebuild.

I don’t understand why this tactic is even allowed in the game. It’s frustrating to deal with, especially when I don’t have much time to play. It seems like a cheap strategy that requires no skill or strategy, and it’s disappointing that some players choose to exploit it.

In my opinion, this kind of tactic doesn’t belong in a strategy game. It requires far more skill and preparation to counter than it does to execute, and it’s a shame that players have to waste their only session or resign as a result. While not many players actively use this strategy, it should be removed entirely to prevent any further griefing.

It’s actually not as easy to make work as you think as you need to sustain eco to not get even more behind in vils than you already are. Btw sicilian tc drop shouldn’t be too hard to defend. There isn’t inherent advantage of sicilians than getting tc up faster. Persian or even teuton douche is much more dangerous as it’s basically impossible to win the tc vs them so you have to let your tc go down and rebuild which isn’t necessary vs sicilians (you can still chose to do so ofc as it can be a good decision either way).

but if its sicilian… can’t you just garrison vils as soon as he starts building and you will eventually win since you have same hp but you start shooting earlier?

Also, he wasted a ton of time walking with at least 10 vils, while you were gathering resources.

I don’t see how that TC drop with sicilians can do anything but lose

You just had a wrong reaction. Against Persian classic douche, you shouldn’t react but against sicilians you just mirror whatever he does and you will always be ahead because he spent rss for 1 extra town center and walking time for villagers.

    > Ultimate example of no skill required to execute

As all strategies that “always work and take no skill” that people regularly report here, try to play it and realize it’s not that straightforward.

With non-Persian/Teuton you can just fight and win it, keep 10 vils garrisoned a few on food and most on wood and repair and win and it’s basically game over for them. The one time I have seen a Sicilian TC drop it was pretty disappointing, so once you learn to defend it’s easy.

Well, every TC will cost him 100 stone so he can only build 2. The 3rd time you relocate he cannot follow.

Use the time your opponent takes to move his villagers, build the TC and then actually use that TC to attack/destroy yours to build up your base nearby on the map. Get comfortable with having a decentralized base with different structures in different parts of the map.

If scouts are an issue, wall off your woodline / gold / berries with palisades.

Also, maybe consider leaving a few vills in / near your own TC to attack his and (more importantly) to repair your own while its under attack. If he’s sniping vills with scouts, those scouts will have to think twice about attacking your vills (which can hide inside your TC and fire arrows at them).

It’s not easy but with enough practice you can definitely defend against this kind of push. It’s a matter of holding the line until your better eco kicks in and you can start pushing back hard.

Then get ready for the Persian douche lol

    Anyway, good luck!
