    Assuming I have forward resources and expecting some aggression from opponent, should I place tower preemptively? Or try to wall ahead of the resources? Or make some army and stay behind to defend? Or should I go forward myself with the army? What is a better approach (low elo)?

    How are online games on hd?

    I know the vast majority are on de and I’m planning on waiting for a steam sale to save a few bucks on it (I know it’s pretty cheap, I’m just a penny pincher and it would hurt to pay full price for something I already have another version of 😅). I just started getting back into the game and I never played online as a kid, but was wanting to try my hand soon.

    What are some good team bonus combinations or just good civ combos that my team and I should try out?

    Is the game laggy since the patch or is that just me? Feel like all my units are stuck in the mud, super unresponsive. Internet seems ok, tbf I haven’t played for a month so maybe it was always laggier than I remember, but this feels pretty bad.

    Dumb idea or genius idea:

    Incas are an “infantry civilization” with a low win rate and low pick rate and boring bonuses. They are generally considered to have a wide tech tree (which they do), but that isn’t saying much since they are an American civ which lacks a stable and gun powder by default. They need some spice (chili?).

    Their current team bonus is: Spearmen and Skirmishers +2 line of sight

    New team bonus ideas:

    1) Inca castle age UT (andean sling, no min range for skirms/slingers) replaces team bonus (seems dumb but is it really dumber than the current?).

    2) Allies can create slingers (like Berber allies can create genitours). Can be combined with above and still doesn’t seem close to OP.

    3) Actually good farming bonus related to terrace farms. Maybe some weird mechanic like the fulwark. Placing farms in specific patterns increases farm rate?

    4) Mills spawn a llama every X minutes.

    Unique Techs:

    Old Inca UT (Couriers: eagles/kams/slings +10% speed) comes back to replace Andean sling (maybe applies to all inf, so militia/spears also).

    Mayans are an “archer civilization” with a very high pick and win rate. Despite being an archer civ, they are generally considered to have the best eagles because of El Dorado. So:

    Mayan imp UT (El Dorado: eagles +40 hp) replaces Inca imp UT (Fabric Shields: eagles/kams/slings +1/+2 armor)

    Mayans get a renamed fabric shields for eagles, plumes, and maybe archers and/or skirms.

    Is there anything I can do to prevent lagging in team games? Team games always lag for me at some point or another, and I’m like 99% certain my PC and network can handle it fine.

    What causes it?

    By playing with my friends my TG ELO increased to 1400 while my 1v1 ELO is 1200. Now everytime I play TG on my own I play with 1400-1600 players, which is waaay above my level. Not fun for me, not fun for my team mates. What to do?

    In the 1v1 ranked map pool, has the default map size ever been anything but Tiny? I’m not saying we should have Ludicrous in 1v1 (can you imagine ranked 1v1 Ludicrous Black Forest, 11), but Small might be fun every now and again, especially on maps that are usually quite aggressive like Mediterranean.

    Does it make more sense to get attack upgrades for Karambits than armor? My thought is they’re so squishy they die right away regardless, so a couple armor points wouldn’t do much. Am I completely wrong?

    Best way to defend Turks fast-imp on Arena? Good results going 1-2 TC and blind making +2 Skirms and Redemption monks to kill HC/convert BBC, respectively; bad results going fast-imp myself or making units such as Knights. The only non-Redemption civs I play on Arena with some regularity are Magyars and Persians, who each have good options (Magyar Huszars; infinite Villagers on wood into Trashbows) to deal with the Turk push, but I’m curious if there are other strategies, specifically for non-Redemption civs.

    I have been losing Arabia games in the late game lately even when out eccoing and out producing my opponents. I think it has to do with positioning and when I pick fights/engage. Or not reproducing fast enough after a big battle (which I know I need to solve with more production buildings). Any other tips for navigating Imp? One main problem is new units don’t have stand ground and often rush into die under a castle. Probably need to work on my way points. Sorry, just rambling after losing a few I’m sure I could have won.
