    I recently picked up the new DLCs and have been trying out Bengalis on 1v1 (mostly Arabia), and … they actually feel very good? I am on a 7-0 streak with them which has never happened before with any civ (for context this is at the 1000-1100 level). I like to play with a boom-y, defensive style, place lots of farms in castle age and try to win with better Eco in Imp; and it seems Bengalis are super well-suited to this style of play. Elephant Archers have worked really well for me so far; no one at this level seems to know how to counter them. Bengalis are supposed to be countered by skirms but so far I have just dealt with it by adding in light cav.

    Any reason why the Civ has such a low win rate on open maps? Is it because Bengalis die to early Castle Age aggression at the high levels and people just don’t know how to be consistently aggressive at lower ELOs?

    Quick question here, is it a bugged map when 2 of my 3 gates in arena are entirely blocked off by trees on the outside of my base? Tiny little clumps that blocked off only the gate and nothing else

    What’s a “standard” fast castle build order for Arena that i can start playing around with for different strats?

    Have finally mastered the fast feudal build, but struggling on the FC side of things.

    How to counter a castle rush, and when they build ra castle or two right next to your base. I’m new and been losing to it a ton.

    How do you even play against someone who simply stonewalls at min 8 on arabia with Khmer, and goes for 50 FU Ballista eles plus some lightcav or eles in imp? By stonewalls, I mean almost a quarter of map is stonewalled from literally start of the game. I tried going Ethiopian SO last game, but that needs a lot of practice. But that aside, Idk how to force an opening.

    I have been working on a mod for DE for like the last couple of days. There seems to be a lack of documentation regarding detailed modding information. Some stuff is very trivial like replacing a png but i need help to make a new unit with animations (it will be replacing petard ingame). I have installed many suspicious programs trying to edit the original animations but that file extention is cursed man 😀 If you can give me any diretion or anything really i would appreciate it

    What’s more valuable for skirms, the last armor upgrade or the last attack upgrade? Lots of civs are missing one or the other.

    Few noob questions-

    1) Civ abilities such as Saracen’s “Galley attack 25% faster”- does that apply to just galleys? Or all ships in the galley upgrade line?

    2) What exactly does it mean by the Saracen’s “market trade cost only 5%”. Haven’t figured out the mechanics/math behind the market trade rates, and in the level i just played, I didn’t really see what that 5% was doing

    3) Guilds tech- Reduces the commodity trading fee to 15%. What does that mean? Is that the same mechanic as the Saracen’s ability? Or something else?

    As Gurjaras on a water map, building the Mill has to be a trap, right? Very few civs besides Saracens want to build a Mill if they can avoid it because of the wood savings, and if the Mill can be ranged by Galleys (common on water maps), then losing it is a huge disaster. Especially if it delays your Dock, which can often happen if you are only on stragglers, the extra food just shouldn’t make a difference. I think it’s more worth it to view the berries as a slower source of extra food, kind of like the Tatars or Lithuanians bonuses, and spend the extra wood on ships (you can garrison your fish too, fwiw) to try to win water early; is this correct?

    I started playing this game when I was a little kid on my dads desktop(a calculator had more processing power) and didn’t get in depth. 20 years later it’s on GamePass. I get so lost in the sauce when this group talks strats and stats. I know siege weapons take on structures and pikeman take on people, that’s where I’m at. Very new to real-time strategy games like this. Where do I start? Beginner guide somewhere?

    When doing a pre-mill drush, do you build a lumber camp with your first 4 wood vils or are you supposed to take straggler trees at the start? New to this build and every guide I’ve seen basically goes with the standard 6F, 4W, lure boar, and then vil #12 is supposed to build a house and a barracks. I never have enough wood by the time I’m supposed to be building the barracks. I’ve been putting that 12th vil on a straggler for a few chops after he finishes the house. Is there a cleaner way to do it?

    So I have the game on game pass but i am too frugal to get the dlc’s. If I do happen to get my hands on the extra content through other means, will they work ?
