Still I’d argue the civ bonus and the extra HP on Hussars should make up for the missing last armor upgrade.
I know Mongols and Huns lack the unique techs of civs like the Magyars, Tatars, and Turks, but when I do build Cav Archers, it’s often before I build a Castle.
A thorough rating should judge how good Cav Archers are in early Castle Age, post-Castle or early Imperial, and in Imperial Age.
Cav archer as an unit, or unit type?
Mongols on a lower level than Turks?

IMO camel archers are reason enough to put berbers in tier A

What I want to know is, how **bad** can a cav archer be whilst still countering FU Halbs?

Malians…can make cav archers work better than you’d expect.
You seem to be confusing Mongol CA.
Just because most people go for mangudai doesn’t mean their CA aren’t S tier.
It’s because the alternative is just such a good unit, not because the CA is not S tier.
Bulgarians (maybe Chinese) are also a tier above the others because their tech is cheaper.
And the whole issue with CA is how expensive they are to tech into.
There’s no way lith are on par with bulg even more so because they lack PT, therefore lack the +2 damage
